Martino Gamper's shelving is held together by one-sided dovetail joints that are inserted from the top. Gamper also wanted to highlight the versatile qualities of red oak by using different finishes of the horizontal and vertical elements. The horizontal shelves have been fumed into a darker colour, and the vertical components have a bleached veneer. To emphasise the movement in the slightly inclined shelf, Gamper intentionally let the grains of the wood go in the opposite direction as the shelves.
